Last two months were the most challenging ones to the entire people of Kerala. We had the worst flood of the century in which hundreds lost their lives and millions lost everything they could acquire in life so far. The total loss incurred is more than the GDP of the State. Rebuilding life is a challenge to many. Lions Clubs International is proud to say that It was the first to declare some help by way of granting one lakh US Dollar as catastrophe grant, with which we could wipe the tears of some. District 318 C ran a Flood Help Centre at International Stadium, Kaloor, through which we could distribute relief materials of more than 4 crores. All the Clubs in the District were very active in the relief work and they could do relief work of more than two crores. We got huge quantity of materials sent by Lions all over the world.
Lions Clubs International Foundation announced construction of 5oo houses for flood victims. In addition to that, District 318 C is building 15 houses from the donations we received.
The flagship project of the year Lions Snehabhavanam has been inaugurated on 22nd September. We will be completing the construction of 50 houses before 31st March.
